Journey| World's Longest Locs
by Gail Mitchell
Imagine having locs so long, you need to stand on a ladder to hang them freely. Meet Asha Mandela. She holds the Guiness World Record for the longest dreadlocks in the world: 19 feet, 6 inches long. When dry, they weigh four pounds; wet, they weigh at least 10 pounds.
Locs are truly a commitment for Asha. "When I started growing my locks, I suddenly became very overprotective of them, as I felt they beheld all my energy, wisdom, knowledge and understanding and my over all strength. So I twisted, groomed and maintained them for myself... to the present," said Asha in an interview with AOL Black Voices.
Her hair care regimen requires patience, a lot of time, a lot of products and tlc. Washing her hair is a production, as this video below shows. Check her out on You Tube.
Asha shows that she's really living the loc'd lifestyle. She is a hair model, and her website is http://www.ashamandela-longest-ethnic-dreadlocks-hairmodel.com
